We all love to get off school. The problem with all our wonderful free time, is figuring out how to spend it! We try all year to find any excuse to get off school (unfortunately it doesn’t happen often), and then when we do eventually get off, we can’t figure out what to do with our time. It’s back to school tomorrow, and that means we have to all buckle down and pay attention to our teachers again. And they will try to make us buckle down while we aren’t paying attention to them. Some people may be happy to go back to school, seeing as you can catch up with friends. A million people will be going around asking you what you did over the holidays. The top answer will be ‘nothing much’. Hope you all had a good time over Easter.
Okay, today is World maths day, and all your maths teachers will probably have already given you your passwords and your usrenames. This year we are trying to answer as many maths questions as possible, and at the minute it looks like the counter is going up by about a thousand sums per second! We are trying to break a world record. But of cource, seeing as it was maths, the creators of the site thought that there wouldn’t be much interest. They were wrong! Apparently, the server was shut down for some of today because there wasn’t enough cyber space for all the traffic running through the site! Who knew so many people would be interested? It’s a chance to brush up on your sums, and try to beat other people from around the globe.
Try going onto www.worldmathsday.com
Freerice is an amazing website where you test your word knowledge. When you answer the questions corectly you get 20 grains of rice, which actually goes to the 3rd world countries. Try it now with your friends and see who can raise the most rice. You can have fun, while also feeding people in the 3rd world. This is an amazing site, and we’d love to know how many grains of rice you raise! So Post a comment when you’ve tried it to let us know.
Happy New Year everyone! Even though it may be a little late for wishing people well for the new year. Our Open Day is comming up this weekend on saturday the 26th January! So we are off school on Friday for exceptional closure. While we are all at home having a relaxing day for fun, all our teachers are in school preparing for the younger Primary 7 pupils to come see our school. A few teachers have complained about muddy feet, so if you are going in or out of your classroom, please wipe your feet to stop dragging mud about. This could easily avoid your whole class getting a detention! It also stops our school from looking messy.
Thanks!

All the exams are over and done with, at least for the junior section of the school! Everyone is happy that the exams are over, and are either anticipating results or not looking forward to them at all. But despit your score it won’t matter as long as you tried your best. remember: It’s not the end of the world! Congratulations to all those who were pleased wit thier scores. But to all those who didn’t it is just a chance to see what to improve on. Good luck in all future exams and have a good run up to Christmas!
Merry Christmas from everyone here at The Computer Club!
The Computer Club Blog received a very encouraging message this morning from a past pupil, Shane Greer, a political blogger in London.
‘As a former pupil and political blogger in London I was delighted to see Lagan College branching into the blogosphere and just wanted to pass my congratulations along to everyone involved in the Lagan College Computer Club. The blog looks really professional (in fact it looks a good deal better than some of the ones run by professional bloggers over here!). I look forward to following the blogs progress and linking to it when appropriate.
In the meantime I’ve mentioned the blog here http://www.shanegreer.com/?q=node/160.
Best wishes,
Shane Greer’
Try this website for cool games and rivision quizes that actually help you with your rivision. There are some good science, maths and english reviews and quizes along with games that could be very useful during the stressful exams. Good luck to everyone who is doing thier Christmas exams and a big shout out to all the people who did their 11+ test. All at Lagan College are glad to already have it over and done with.
