In most schools, Spanish is studied as a second modern language. However, at Lagan College, almost half of our students study Spanish as their core language from Year 8 to 10. This reflects the increasing importance of Spanish as one of the world’s most widely spoken languages.
We continue to see healthy numbers choosing to study the subject at GCSE level with usually two to three classes each year.

Visits to areas where Spanish is spoken are important to our department. At present our A Level students have the opportunity to do a short course in Spain thus practising their language skills at the same time as gaining useful insights into the customs and culture of Spain.
