Lagan College is well supported by a highly motivated and enthusiastic team of parents who form the Parents’ Council.
All parents are welcome to our meetings, which take place at 6.45pm in the school library.
Since the formation of Lagan College, Parents have played a vital role in the life of the school. Today the Parents Council continues to support the school through activities such as attendance at Open Day, refreshments at sporting events, social gatherings such as Lagan Tea Rooms and fundraising. The Parents’ Council aims to encourage strong partnerships between the school, parents and pupils.
We are now introducing Easy Fundraising as a new way to help raise money for the PC with very little effort. Please see the Easy Fundraising page for more information!
We plan and host fundraiser events throughout the school year for the benefit of the pupils. Over the last three years, we have sponsored:
- Music Cup
- English Cup
- Eco Cup
- Sports Honours ties
- Gaelic kit and practice goal keeping nets
- Costumes for the Dance troop
Our challenge for 2015-2016 is to raise money to introduce the Lexia Literacy Programme within the College. Lexia Reading is a technology-based reading program that increases reading proficiency for all students within Key Stage 3 and at-risk students within Key Stage 4. This initiative will raise standards and promote reading throughout the school, as well as encouraging reluctant readers.
So, please join us. New faces are always welcome. We appreciate that life is busy so we keep our meetings sociable and lively. We are an enthusiastic group of people that would like to encourage you to be involved in the life of the Parents’ Council at Lagan College. We’d love to meet you.
